"I still believe that if your aim is to change the world, journalism is a more immediate short-term weapon"

Quote by: Tom Stoppard

Of all the fields I could have pursued, why did I choose journalism? Like many aspiring journalists, I was told I was making a mistake. That journalism is a dying industry, one that is neither respected nor valued. But I believe journalism is all around us. As a historian, I see it as the documentation of human history. As a social scientist, I view it as the record of the human experience. We live in an era defined by mistrust, and in such a time, it is a deep honor to become a journalist who can be trusted.

I want to be a journalist who seeks truth and light in the darkest corners, who maintains the fabric of community through storytelling. At its core, journalism is not just about reporting the news, it’s about connection. It’s about reminding people that they matter. I hope to be a journalist embedded in the lives of a community, someone who documents, uplifts, and preserves. I want to show that everyone and everything is valuable.
